At The Carlingford Vet, we believe the foundation of a happy, healthy dog starts with early education and positive socialisation. Our newly updated Puppy School is a comprehensive 5-week program designed to build confidence, establish good manners, and provide you with the tools to navigate your puppy’s first few months with ease.

Led by our brilliant Dr Hayley Billingsley, our classes provide a supportive and professional environment where your pup can learn, grow, and graduate with flying colours!

THE IMPORTANCE OF EARLY TRAINING

Designed for puppies between 8 and 16 weeks of age.

To accommodate busy schedules, classes are held in the evenings after the clinic has closed.

For everyone's safety, puppies must have commenced their vaccination schedule.

WHAT OUR CLASSES COVER

Our holistic curriculum balances essential obedience with vital healthcare and lifestyle tips:

Positive Training Methods
Master communication using bridge/marker words.
Essential Behaviours
Sit, drop/down, stay, recall, and loose-lead walking.
Socialisation & Manners
Supervised interactions, "sitting for a pat," and managing jumping or digging.
Expert Healthcare
Nutrition, parasite prevention, grooming basics, and first aid.
Practical Life Skills
Toilet training, mat/place exercises, and "fear-free" vet visit preparation.

Marker words, sit/recall basics, bonding, and toilet training.

Mat work, down exercises, and social interaction.

Loose-lead walking and preparing for vet handling.

WHAT TO BRING TO CLASS

To ensure your pup is ready to learn, please bring the following to every session:

  • Vaccination Certificate/Record (required for the first session).

  • Lead and collar/harness (all puppies must be restrained).

  • A mat, bed, or towel for "place" training.

  • High-value treats: We highly recommend Prime 100 Lamb Puppy Training Treats or Black Hawk Puppy Chicken Jerky Bites.
